About Emma Beischer
Emma Beischer is a contemporary textile designer working in the specialisms of knit, print and stitch. From her Nottingham studio, she crafts her unique homewares, gifts and accessories using her distinctive geometric designs. Products include, snoods, cards and lino prints. She also offers a bespoke and custom design service across her knitted products.
Emma playfully experiments with bright colours, patterns and shapes. From her original geometric illustrations she articulates this within the constraints of traditional Fair Isle knitting techniques and 24- stitch pattern repeats to produce a collection of bold designs.
For her knitted product range she sources 100% soft lambswool in bright and beautiful colours. These are all knitted on a hand powered knitting machine and gently washed to create a cosy and luxurious feel. All products are hand finished with great care and attention.
Emma learned to knit properly (after several first attempts to knit at the age 10 after being shown by her Nan) whilst studying for a degree in Creative Arts at Bath Spa University. During her degree she became passionate about constructed and printed textiles. In her final year she became drawn to transferring illustrations and patterns into knit. This resulted in her series of intarsia cat jumpers. She then started to incorporate bold uses of colour and working within the constraints of knitting patterns to influence how her subsequent illustrations and textiles took form.
Emma Beischer set up her own business in 2014.
